It is a Masjid (Mosque), a Muslim house of worship where five daily prayers are performed including Friday prayers. It brings together Muslims (men and women) living in the Okai Kwei North Municipality. It is one of the prominent Mosques within the Lapaz Community.
Library, Islamic Lectures (Dawaah), Youth development, Counseling, Social welfare, Zakat, Ramadan programs and Qur’an studies, Marriage and Divorce, Naming ceremonies, Girl child education and orphanage.
Makaranta is a Hausa word, the equivalent of Arabic word Madrasa which means a school to teach Muslims especially children on how to read and recite the Holy Qur’an. It is a house- hold word which is not specific to Lapaz alone. It is found in almost every Muslim locality in Ghana. Makaranta is performed on the ground floor of Bilal Islamic Center on Saturdays and Sundays.
Plans are being put in place to encourage the memorization of the Holy Qur’an by the youth (boys and girls) in the Okai Kwei North Municipality.
The Bilal Islamic Center has designed a well-structured area for a Library for reading, consultation, study, and research on Islamic matters. It is expected to house basic reference documents on Islam.
Bilal Islamic Center with the facility available on the 3rd Floor has a sitting capacity of about 200 for hosting different social activities i.e. marriage ceremonies, outdooring, reading of the Qur’an etc.
The 3rd floor of Bilal Islamic Center allocated offices to handle numerous issues on Islam such as Marriage Registration, Marriage and Divorce, Settlement of Disputes, Reconciliation, Registration of Birth and Death, Counselling among others.
